New: First Impressions

Starting with Grand Theft Auto VI we will be sharing our First Impressions of New games or Demos recently released to give some insight before they either get a stand alone Log themselves or are something you should check out.

These keep the same shape as a Log, just pointed at something that was released recently. There are so many new games landing (which we love to see), and this is how we give them the spotlight.

THE FUTURE OF GAMER’S HEART

Gamer’s Heart started this past June with two objectives: to bring honesty back to gaming journalism and to publish reviews written by an actual gamer who knows the ins and outs of all types of games. Our commitment to honesty is at the core of everything we do, aiming to build your trust and confidence in our reviews.

For too long, gaming journalism and mainstream media outlets have brought a level of distrust and frankly disloyalty to the overall gaming community that we have never seen. Their judgment has been clouded by money rather than a love of the medium.

Our author, Alton Fox, is that gamer; someone directly involved in gaming and the game development process. Our initial pitch for Gamer’s Heart was to create a place for high-quality gaming journalism. We realized we could do much more. With each Log we released, that idea got bigger.

With that in mind, you might be curious about what’s next for Gamer’s Heart…

Throughout 2026, Gamer’s Heart Logs mainly covered AAA titles, which remain a priority. However, we are expanding our focus to include Indie games and Demos because these titles show promise and offer different perspectives that enrich our coverage.

First Impressions is where most of that will land. A piece goes up while the game is still new, written from hours actually played and honest about how few there are. Some of these games may get a full Log later on. Some won’t, and that is the point of the format: a First Impressions piece stands on its own rather than holding a place for something else.

We are always looking to improve our format, and we would love your input as a reader. If there is a game you want covered, something you want more of, or something we are getting wrong, tell us. We are willing to give anything a shot. Your feedback helps us grow and ensures our content Resonates with you!

THANK YOU!

Thank you for reading. If you made it this far, you care about games being written about honestly, and so do we. There is a lot left to build, and it will be better with you here. Stick with us.
